The founder, Dr. Robert L. Chastain, J.D./Ph.D., Esq., President of Chastain Research Group, Inc. (ChRGTM), is a SAS V6 Certified ProfessionalTM and a Regulatory Affairs Certified (RAC) professional by the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS). He has extensive experience in computer programming for clinical data management, statistical analysis, report writing, and graphical display. He has been a SAS® programmer since 1982 and has taught SAS® courses to faculty, students and staff at Texas A&M University and Stanford University. His pharmaceutical industry experience includes planning, designing, developing, implementing and maintaining software for monitoring, reporting and analyzing clinical trials. He has worked on toxicology, bioequivalence, quality assurance, pharmaco-kinetic (PK), pharmaco-economic (PE), and Phase I-IV studies in many therapeutic areas. He has helped file numerous New Drug Applications (NDAs) as a programmer and statistician.
Dr. Chastain has consulted in academic, business, and professional circles for more than 18 years and is President, Chief Executive Officer, and General Counsel of Chastain Research Group, Inc., an established and growing technical consulting resource firm. He has served a wide range of industries drawing on extensive managerial and research experience. He is a licensed attorney (CA #190022, NE #21559) with legal training and education in intellectual property, corporate securities, employment benefits, contracts, and general corporate business transactions. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychological Specialties (D.A.B.P.S.) with a Forensic Specialty in Psychological Assessment, Evaluation and Testing. He has a background in education, psychology, legal research, statistics, measurement, manufacturing, electronics, software development, computer systems validation, and clinical trial research.
Dr. Chastain was born and raised in Western New York State. He holds a Ph.D. and J.D. from Stanford University, an M.S. from Texas A&M University, and a B.A. from Houghton University (Summa Cum Laude). Prior to going to graduate school, he worked for a division of General Motors and was a member of the United States Marine Corps receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Vietnam veteran.
Dr. Chastain lives in East Palo Alto, California. He has been active in professional and community organizations receiving Certificates of Appreciation from the San Mateo County's Community Schools Program’s East Palo Alto Community Law Project for the 1994-1995 and 1995-1996 school years. He is active in the Santa Clara County Bar Association and sits on the Executive Finance Committee.
